Henley Gate Primary Academy - Coming 2027

A nursery and primary school which will serve its community and meet the needs of local people.

We are excited to reveal our plans for a new primary school in Ipswich.

Due to open in September 2027, Henley Gate Primary will serve the new estate that is currently being built in North Ipswich.

We plan to open the school gradually – admitting around 15 children into Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 initially, as well as opening a nursery (for children aged from 6 months and up). We will then open our Year 3 class in September 2028, Year 4 in 2029 and so on until the school is fully open by September 2031.

We also plan to offer wraparound provision with a breakfast club and an after school club.

A consultation on the opening of the school, and our admission arrangements will go live in September 2026.

Our Curriculum

Paradigm schools follow a carefully designed curriculum which is broad and balanced.

Our approach to curriculum is that in order for pupils to thrive academically, emotionally and socially, they need to have secure and well structured knowledge and skills.

Our curriculum has been written so that knowledge and skills are sequenced and developed from Early Years through to the end of primary, so that pupils can successfully recall and apply what they have learnt in new contexts.

We believe that at primary school, children learn best when their lessons are taught by a mix of their main class teacher and subject specialists.

Our curriculum offer is aspirational and includes many things as standard often only found in private education. We have specialist teachers in several areas including music, PE and computing. Consequently, these subjects are taught at a higher level than typically found in primary schools. The Trust allocates significant resources to ensure that our provision is high quality: for example, class sets of instruments for music teaching and sets of Chromebooks.

In addition to our rich classroom curriculum, we place a very high value on real-world experiences, so we have developed a hinterland curriculum to ensure all children benefit from a rich, well thought-through curriculum of experiences to support their development.
